Give a little time
HKUAA-NY runs on volunteers. Whether you have an evening a year or an hour a month, there is a way to help. Tell us what interests you and a committee member will be in touch.
Event volunteer
Lend a hand at a gathering: greet guests, check people in, help set up and pack down, take photos, or bring an idea for a new activity and help run it. No fixed commitment — we'll ask before each event and you say yes when you can.
Committee member
The Executive Committee steers the Chapter: planning the year's events, looking after membership and finances, and keeping in touch with HKU. Members are HKU graduates who can commit to a few meetings a year and take charge of one or two events. Places open up from time to time; when they do we look first at people who have volunteered with us, so do express interest.
Mentor an HKU student or recent graduate
HKU students on exchange in New York, and graduates newly arrived, often just need someone to talk to — about the city, a career path, or how things work here. Mentors are alumni who can offer an occasional coffee or call over a semester. We match by field and interests.
Tell us what interests you
A few lines are enough — we will follow up personally.
All expressions of interest are reviewed by the committee. We will reply within a couple of weeks; committee places and mentoring depend on availability and fit, and we may ask to meet you first. Nothing is automatic — we want to look after both our volunteers and the students we introduce them to.
